Pia Nilsson and Lynn Marriott teach that your human skills matter more than your technical skills. Master these three pillars and the swing follows.
From "Be a Player" and "Every Shot Must Have a Purpose"
Balance
The foundation
Feel both feet equally grounded. Weight centered, not leaning. Before every shot, do a balance check: can you feel the ground? Physical balance creates mental balance.
Check: Stand on one foot for 5 seconds. If you wobble, your setup needs attention.
Tempo
Your personal rhythm
Every golfer has a natural tempo, a waltz, not a march. Find YOUR tempo through breathing: inhale on the backswing, exhale through impact. Own yours.
Check: Hum your swing. Is it rushed? Smooth? That hum IS your tempo.
Tension
The silent destroyer
Tension is the enemy of distance, accuracy, and feel. Rate your grip pressure 1-10, aim for 3. The softer you hold the club, the faster it moves.
Check: Can you feel the weight of the clubhead? If not, you're gripping too hard.
